Monkey Records - online audio delights

Monkey Records is an icon of the New Zealand music scene. With a growing stable of independent artists in a variety of genres, they have been promoting and supporting a uniquely Kiwi flavour for several years.

In association with Paul Bradley, Giant Robot built a site jam-packed with features to encourage people to explore and experience the amazing media that Monkey Records encompasses.

NZ Contemporary Art

nzcontemporary is a new art / gallery showcase site designed and curated by The Wilderness.

After working with The Wilderness on the MIC rebranding last year, we had a great time helping them assemble another of their stunning clean designs, and we're delighted to see it showing off some of the amazing Aotearoan art on offer.

MIC Toi Rerehiko

The organisation f.k.a Moving Image Centre have rebranded themselves as MIC: Toi Rerehiko, and have a sharp new WPCMS site with bleeding edge accessibility and killer design by The Wilderness.

We made it go. Enjoy.

Paperfish goes live

Paperfish's new website is live this evening! I'm quite stoked with it. The design is a fairly simple template which uses a series of gentle water images in the header, and they crossfade nicely using some very sexy Javascript and CSS manipulation.

I threw this together using the YUI toolkit and a lot of fooling around to get it to behave right. I think the overlaid images are still a single pixel out (to the right), but the effect is lovely.

Timeless Flooring goes live

We'd like to congratulate Timeless Flooring on their new website, which went live today. Designed by Darcy @ Blueamp, and implemented as a WP CMS one rainy Saturday arvo.

Includes a bit of funky JavaScript to arrange page layout after it's loaded (using YUI toolkit) and protect the customer's new email address from spambots who scan pages for email addresses.

Love yer work, Darcy :)

Moving Image Centre CMS goes live

The Moving Image Centre supports and develops the visual arts in New Zealand, and we've just given their existing site design a set of bionic upgrades to give them easy content management facilities.

Based on WP2 core and some custom CMS additions via WP's plugin interface.

Design was based on existing templates from a previous design company, but simplified considerably. We feel the result is quite a lot easier on the eye and clearer to work with.

Green Party

Giant Robot provides IT support and web development to the Green Party of Aotearoa NZ, offering technical support for web development, systems implementation, data management and automated data transfer systems, and generally any old hacking that is required.

We work with a number of open-source products, including but not limited to:

Moving Image Centre

Giant Robot has been involved with the Moving Image Centre for the past couple of years, providing support and development skills. The Moving Image Centre is terrifically supportive of media arts in New Zealand, and it's a delight to be able to offer some expertise and contribute towards their goals.

GR hosts a protected intranet facility for the MiC Board (link not available, sorry), which provides a secure forum for the international directors to meet (virtually) and manage the organisation.

Monarch Butterfly NZ Trust

The Monarch Butterfly NZ Trust is a charitable organisation dedicated to the preservation of the habitat of the Monarch Butterfly in New Zealand. Their website runs on the WordPress publishing engine.

Width.NET gets Drupal 4.6.3

Width.NET has just been bumped up to Drupal 4.6.3. The Drupal install there is still in testing and evaluation but it looks pretty good! Drupal isn't for everyone with its emphasis on structured information nodes, but Width is specifically about constructing networks of information and thus Drupal is a near-perfect match. (Testing TrackBacks)
