Green Party

Giant Robot provides IT support and web development to the Green Party of Aotearoa NZ, offering technical support for web development, systems implementation, data management and automated data transfer systems, and generally any old hacking that is required.

We work with a number of open-source products, including but not limited to:

  • Linux distributions, including Debian, SuSE and Ubuntu
  • Mailman
  • WordPress (thanks Stuey for switching me on to this one!)
  • Moodle
  • PhpBB2
  • MediaWiki
  • FireBird
  • MySQL
  • and anything ...

Giant Robot has been involved in the implementation of the following Green Party websites:

Credit where credit is due: all the excellent design (AFAIK) is thanks to the tireless efforts of Stuart Young and an excellent volunteer support team. Giant Robot's role is strictly behind the scenes, implementing cool trickery and solutions as required.

We are contracted to both the Parliamentary Greens and the Green Party, two different wings of the same organisation, both acting in concert but having different roles (basically, one inside the Beehive and surrounds, and one outside).

The Green Party website is regularly the most popular political party website in New Zealand (according to HitWise), and this article is extremely positive of the use of e-campaigning in the 2005 election.

It's an honour to have been selected to work with an elected political party in Aotearoa,  and to be involved with so successful and committed a team of people. The election this year was a particularly exciting process. Thanks!
